About four Junes ago on a warm evening, I had watched the surreal sight of a dazzling display of synchronized fireflies blinking in the air over a small meadow not very far from home and had written this poem.
This June, I thought to translate that memory into a surface pattern and try to make you smile!
The pattern is called “Glowing Bamboos” and was voted among top 50 in the Spoonflower’s Bioluminescence Design Challenge this month! :)

Lovely design! I am just reading the lovely book ‘The Bedlam Stacks’by Natasha Pulley, in which she describes flaming specks of pollen… while reading it, this reminded me of fireflies and here they are! We don’t have fireflies here in the Neterlands so they always seem magical to me. Have a wonderful month with lots of inspiration.

I am glad you liked it Nicole!
And what a beautiful co-incidence!! Thanks for sharing it and also the lovely book you are reading… :)
I am quite surprised to know that fireflies are not found in Netherlands! They are such a surreal sight to watch…Anyways, I am sure you will see them somewhere, some time… :)
You too, have a great month of June, I hope your Magnolias are all blooming now!!! <3

OH! Gyaneshwari!!! This is soooo very WONDERFUL! How fun! Your poem is lovely and Your fireflys are so amazing! We have them here too, in the woods. This year there were sOOOO many that it didn’t even look real! Thanks for the joy You just gifted! Cheers! 🤗❤️😊

I am so so happy you liked and enjoyed everything so much Katy!!!! :)
Thank you so very much for your kindest words!!! <3
You mention woods. So are you on that Appalachian Trail adventure after all? Forgive me if I am missing any updates on the matter, but for a long time I had seen your glorious countdown to it. And when finally March 2020 came, this unfortunate crisis started! So I was wondering what must have happened to your much-awaited walk?

Totally my pleasure, Gyaneshwari!
And, no…the fireflies are just here. There are woods surrounding us where we live and fireflies come every year but once in a while there are TONS! This was one of those years! You are so sweet to ask about the Appalachian Trail! Thank You! Not yet. I decided early last year that it just wasn’t practical to potentially be gone for so many months due to some things going on with my family. It felt like bad timing on many levels. I’m still getting my kit together though and plan to go in the next few years. I figure I’ll know when the time is right! And as You say….this unfortunate crisis started. I’m so happy I was home. Can’t wait for this craziness to be over! I hope y’all are safe and well! Sending huge hugs Your way and wishing You many fireflies and so much beauty all around!!! 🤗❤️🙏🏼🌀😊🦋🌷

Oh Wow! You are fortunate to live near such beautiful wilderness Katy! :)
Yes my friend, probably everything happens for best. Anyways, I hope you can fulfill that wish soon!
And yes, same here, waiting and praying for this to be over…This spring, I too had to miss walking my beloved wildflowers trails in Smokies…But nature knows the best. Let’s trust her… :)
Love & hugs for you too, and thank you for that lovely, lovely wish! <3

Thank You, Gyaneshwari! It is very lovely here, and we are crazy grateful to live here! And WHAT?!!! You live near the Smokies?!!! It’s SOOO pretty up there! I am smiling super big because when I do end up going perhaps I will pass You on the trail or spot You in a field of wildflowers! How fun!
I am sorry You weren’t able to see Your beloved wildflowers this season. It will be all the more sweet when You are able to walk Your trails! And I totally agree…nature does know best….for certain!!! One of the bright spots in all of this is seeing her shake herself off and have breathing room from our activity. My favorite is seeing the canals of Venice so brilliantly blue!!!
Huge hugs and Love right back! 🤗💕😊

Well, it’s totally a possibility Katy, crossing path at Smokies, that will be the best place to meet up!!! One day…who knows!!! <3
You are so sweet to say that...but that's so true really, everything always feels a lot more sweeter after missing it for long...and of course we value it more than ever... :)
And yes, nature is having much needed respite from us for sure!!! And I agree, Venice is a breathtaking place indeed! :)
Warm hugs, stay safe!!! <3<3 <3
